How to Coat Paint Marker with Artist Resin

Coating your acrylic paint marker art with our Artist Resin is easy!  The cool thing about Artist Resin is it helps preserve your artwork and make it last longer.  At the same time, it enhances the colors and creates that beautiful glossy finish.

Let’s get started coating paint marker with Artist Resin.

  1. Go to our Resin Calculator to determine the amount of Artist Resin you need for the size of panel you’re using.

  1. Wear your gloves, and accurately measure the recommended amount of resin and hardener in a mixing container. Stir well for about three minutes.  Making sure you scrape the bottom and the sides of your mixing container as you stir. Read our blog on How to Properly Mix Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin.
  2. Pour the Artist Resin at the center of your piece. Use a stick to spread it out to the edges of the wood panel.  Check out How to Pour and Spread Epoxy Resin for more tips and tricks!
  3. Tip: Wood panels contain trapped air which, when released can form bubbles. Bubbles can ruin your project. Pre-sealing wood CCDIY Quick Coat is a good way to prevent bubbles.
  1. Use a torch for popping the bubbles. Read our blog What Torch Does Counter Culture Recommend and Why?
  2. Cover your project and let it sit for 24 hours to cure.  After 24 hours, the resin is dry to touch. You can now start painting with your acrylic markers!
  3. Once you’re finished with your design and the ink is dry, you can coat your artwork with Artist Resin.  Follow steps 1-4.
  4. Check if there are specks of dust, or any particles which should not be there.  Remove them using a toothpick.
  1. Cover your project and let it sit for 24 hours to cure.

The following day, your art will be covered with a glass-like finish and is ready for display!  If you plan to ship it, please wait a full 72 hours until the resin is fully cured.
