FAQs

What temperature does Artist Resin work best in?  Artist Resin works best in temperatures between 70-75 degrees F.

What is the working time of Artist Resin? The working time depends on the temperature of the resin and the temperature of the room you are working in.  If the temperature is around 72 degrees F, you should have 30-45 minutes of working time.  The cooler the resin and the room, the longer the working time.  The warmer the resin and the room, the shorter the working time.

How long is the cure time?  Artist Resin will cure to the touch in 8-12 hours and fully cure in 24 hours.  If shipping a recently cured project, it is recommended to wait at least 72 hours before shipping.

What is the difference between Casting Resin  and Artist Resin?  Casting Resin is FDA Compliant and VOC free, and made for thicker pours from 1/4″ to 2″ thick.  Ideal for petri molds, river tables, jewelry making.  It is also a bit softer so in some cases, we recommend doing a topcoat with Artist Resin the next day to create a durable shell for items such as coasters.

Artist Resin is FDA compliant and VOC free as well, thought it is made for pours less than 1/4″ thick.  Ideal for resin art, countertops, serving trays, geodes, glitter tumblers, and marble paint tumblers.  It is very hard and durable.

How does it react to the heat? Artist Resin is heat resistant up to 500 degrees F.  You should not expose Artist Resin to prolonged heat sources, this could amber the resin.  For example: hanging a piece directly over a fire where it is exposed to long periods of high heat.

My pump isn’t working.  This means that your resin is a little cool and should be warmed up before use, especially part A of the resin.  Warming also reduces bubbles when dispensing.

How can I get rid of bubbles? 1. Ensure that resin is warm when mixing.  Warm resin will mix easier without creating as many bubbles.

2. Torch the resin with an appropriate torch device.

Can I use a hairdryer or heat gun to pop bubbles in poured resin? A hairdryer or heatgun will produce sufficient heat to pop bubbles in resin.  We recommend using an automatic lighting torch attachment with a propane canister.  Even a small artist torch will not provide enough heat to pop bubbles.  (See official FAQ page for picture/product reference and additional FAQs!)

My resin got really hot and clumpy.  Resin cures by heat- when you mix up resin you should pour it immediately onto your work.  If you leave a mass of mixed resin in a container, it will build up heat rapidly and also dramatically reduces working time. (See FAQs page for full answer.)

Is Artist Resin FDA compliant? Yes, all of our resins are FDA compliant (FDA 21 CFR 175.300).

This is my go-to resin! I love how the clear, glasslike appearance of the resin brings out the colors of my acrylic pours! This resin is easy to mix and had a good working time. Generally the resin is set within 24 hours but I like to give it 3-5 days to ensure it is completely cured.

  2. Sandy Tolar Resine

Love this product! So easy to work with. Definitely Recommend! 💖

  3. Alchemy Art Studio LLC

This is my favorite resin to use in my artwork. It can be a little finicky in cooler weather but easily solved by doing a warm water bath. It gives my artwork such a beautiful shine

  4. Brooke McIntire

Very thick and excellent for counter tops, flood coats, and tumblers. As long as you have the CCDIY torch and some patience, you can’t go wrong with this resin. A must have for anyone whether just starting out or a seasoned veteran. Not the best choice for molds, but will work as long as you work to get rid of bubbles.

  5. jessica_loves_joey

Artist resin is great but I don’t like it for tumblers. I use it in my resin molds and key chains. The air bubbles are easy to pop with a torch and it cures nice and hard.

  6. Crystal Payne (verified owner)

Love this resin, I was having issues with my previous resin I was using and was recommended to try the artist resin and I’m never going back. It hardens like it suppose to and I have little to no bubbles in my creations. The odor is very low and I have a sensitivity to smells.

  7. DragonflyWhispers

Absolutely love this resin! This is my second choice only after the Medium Viscosity. I do mostly Resin Art on wood cut outs, molds, tumblers, etc. I work a lot with foils, metallic flakes, and pigments and this resin is hands down one of the best out there! All CCDIY Resins are the amazing. They finish with a glass like finish and I dont have ANY issues with this epoxy in FLA when I struggled with all others. I will never go to another epoxy after finding them a few years ago now! Thank you CVDIY for bringing the best of the best!! Jenn Smith from Dragonfly Whispers Artistic Creations 💫🩶

  8. Kortney Thomas

I’ve tried so many different resins but AR has always been my tried and true! You can’t go wrong with any CCDIY product!

  9. esandoval0710 (verified owner)

I love my artist resin. Warming it up before applying on my tumbler works best as it helps with micro bubbles. The shine once my tumbler is ready is amazing. You can’t go wrong with artist resin!

Best Epoxy Brand on the market after trying several brands this is my go to!

  11. Jamie Authement (verified owner)

This epoxy resin is a game changer for me. I craft in an outdoors shed without air conditioning or heat. Living in Louisiana where humidity is always high and temperatures change by the minute, this is the first epoxy that works well no matter what temperature or humidity level my shed is. I use a small electric heater near my craft table to keep the Temps from getting below 68 in my working area. This epoxy has a glass like shine and makes my projects look amazing. I will not use anything else now that I have found this one! I LOVE this epoxy.
