How to Make Resin Coasters Using Pine Needles

Christmas is just around the corner. Who’s excited?!!

Have you set up your Christmas tree yet?  If not, it’s time to get a pine tree.

But do you wonder what you can do with the tree after the holidays?

In this blog, we will show you how you can preserve pine needles using CCDIY Artist Resin.  You can do this each year to preserve the memory of a wonderful holiday season.

Materials:

  •     CCDIY Artist Resin
  •     Coaster Silicone Molds
  •     Mixing cups, stir sticks, disposable gloves
  •     Pine needles
  •     Heat Gun/Torch

Step 1: Mix the resin

CCDIY Artist Resin is so easy to mix. All you need is to mix 1 part of resin and hardener.  Mix with a stir stick for about 3 minutes.

Step 2: Pour into the mold

With six ounces of resin, you can fill-up two cavities, maybe more.

Step 3: Remove Bubbles

Remove the bubbles with a heat gun or torch.

Step 4: Pine Needles

Add pine needles on the surface. They will sink eventually, so you don’t need to push them down.

Step 5: Cover the project

Cover your art project and leave to cure overnight.

The following day remove the coasters from the mold.  Look at those pine needles suspended in clear, glass-like resin!

You can drill hole on them and use it as an ornament for your Christmas tree, or use it as a coaster for your table. These are some ideas on how you can enjoy looking at those pine needles all year-round.
