DIY Resin Gift Tags for Christmas

Hello, fellow craft enthusiasts! As the holiday season approaches, it's time to sprinkle a little creativity into your gift-giving. This year, why not make your presents stand out with personalized DIY resin gift tags?

Not only are they a heartfelt touch, but they can also double as ornaments, key chains, purse tags, or magnets! Talk about versatility!

Karen Horvath of MG Creations by Karen is our guide for this fun and festive project with a step-by-step tutorial. We'll be using acrylic ornament blanks, CCDIY glitter, UV resin, and beads to create these magical tags.

Step 1: Prepare Your Space

Set up a clean and well-lit workspace. Lay down your silicone mat to catch any spills. Make sure your UV lamp is plugged in and ready to go. Grab your favorite glitters and beads, and let's get ready to craft!

Step 2: Design Your Tags

Get creative with your acrylic blanks! Think about the person you’re gifting and what they'd love. Will it be a burst of festive colors or a serene winter scene? Use CCDIY glitter to bring your vision to dazzling life. And choose vinyl decals that will suit your design.

Step 3: Apply the Resin

Once your design is set, it’s time to pour the UV resin. UV resin makes these gift tags come to life in just minutes! You will only need a few minutes under the UV lamp for your tags to be ready to go.

Don't have UV resin? Don't let that stop you! Just mix up a small batch of traditional Artist Resin and use that instead. The results will still be amazing, you will just need to wait the usual 24 hours for the resin to cure.

Step 4: Add the Beads

Using plastic wire and beads to match your glitter and decals, string on your beads. You can use spacers between your larger beads for more definition. And add charms if you want to make your tags extra fancy.

Step 5: Attach the Hardware

Here's where the versatility shines! Decide what your gift tag will become. For an ornament, attach a festive ornament hook. Want a keychain? Add a ring. Looking for a purse charm? A lobster claw clip will do the trick. Magnets are easy to stick on the back for fridge-ready decor.

Personalization Tips:

Names and Dates: Use your vinyl cutter to add the recipient's name or a special date.
Themed Colors: Match the glitter and beads to your holiday theme or the recipient's favorite colors.
Seasonal Embellishments: Tiny festive elements like snowflakes or mini baubles can be added to your tags for added charm.

Step By Step Instructions

Start by removing the backing off one side of your acrylic blanks. Then lightly sand the surface to help the resin adhere. Wipe off any debris.
Put UV Resin into one medicine cup per each glitter you will be using. Then add your glitters and mix well to combine.
Then pour the glitter resin in the center of the blank. Use a stick to carefully spread the resin over the whole blank.
Let the gift tag sit for a minute or two to let any bubbles pop and allow the resin to self level.
Next place the gift tag under the UV lamp and allow it to cure for 2-3 minutes.
Once your tag is cured, remove the backing from the other side and carefully apply your viny decals.
Then add a layer of UV Resin over the decal side of your tag. Let it sit for a few minutes and then cure it under the lamp.
Finally, add your beads and appropriate hardware to complete your gift tags!
