Art Resin FAQ

What is the difference between art resin and epoxy resin?

Art resin is a type of epoxy that is formulated for use by artists. It is usually clear, contains UV inhibitors, and is made to easily release bubbles. It can be used with colorants and additives to create beautiful patterns and designs.

What is art resin used for?

Art resin is usually used for projects like casting flower bouquets, filling molds, coating cups or pins, as well as making river tables.

What is the best art resin for beginners?

Our Artist Resin Medium Viscosity is a great place to start if you're new to the epoxy world. It can be used in molds, on tumblers, coating tables or countertops, as well as canvas artwork.

Does art resin scratch easily?

Some epoxy that lacks in quality may not cure properly, causing it to be susceptible to scratching.

Purchasing a quality art resin, such as our Artist Resin, can prevent scratches, yellowing, and improper curing.

Change in viscosity

I've used the medium viscosity resin from ccdiy for a few years and never had any issues with it. However, in the last 2 batches, I've noticed that the viscosity is much lower, resulting in a thinner resin. This has affected my Ocean pours because I have to wait a full hour for it to thicken up enough to make my waves. I have reached out to customer service on multiple occasions and was assured that the formula hasn't changed. I don't see how that is possible because the resin is much runnier than before. I continue to use it only because it's food safe.

Not as good

I just find the medium viscosity doesn't give as good coverage as the original Artist resin. I also think it has a stronger order where as I don't ever notice an order with the other one.

My favorite brand of resin on the market!

Medium Viscosity id the PERFECT resin to use for all of your resin projects (I use it for trays, coasters, bowls, etc.) It has the right amount of working time, no bubbles and it sets up much quicker and firmer than the competitors medium viscosity resins. It is fabulous for 3D effects as well. I highly recommend it!
