Holiday crafts are some of the most fun to make. These sweet snow globe pens are no exception! The best part, though, is that they can be customized for any holiday or occasion. Resin artist Danielle Myers of DAM Fancy Creations is showing us how to make pens for Christmas and Valentine’s Day but you could use any of our clay sprinkles and make them in any style that you want! Like many of our tutorials, we just want to share the method with you and then you can take it from there.

How to Make Snow Globe Pens

Making these pens is a super quick and easy project. That means that you can make a whole lot of them. These adorable pens make great stocking stuffers, thank you gifts, or additions to your monthly subscription boxes. You can even throw them is as a bonus gift with your customer orders.

Who doesn’t love getting a little something extra with their order? It’s a great way to build customer relationships and brand loyalty. That’s a win for everyone! These would also be great to throw in birthday grab bags or Easter baskets. You can offer them for sale on your business page so that your customers can use them in these ways too!

We know that with resin art most projects take quite a bit of time. These little cuties are quick and versatile and would be the perfect thing to work on while you’re waiting for resin to cure.

A little bit goes a long way…

As with many of our products a little glitter and sprinkles goes a long way in this project. You don’t want to use too much of either or everything will clump up inside the pen and won’t move freely. Danielle uses a small clay sculpting tool to measure and add her additions to the pens.

This tool works great for measuring tiny bits of product and for getting them into that small opening in the pen. When you watch the video you will see how much product Danielle uses. Whenever you’re in doubt measurements, however, always remember to start small!

What’s that liquid inside the pen?

For her snow globe tumblers Danielle uses a mix of glue and water for her sprinkles and glitter to float in. For these pens, however, she uses regular old baby oil. The glue mix makes the sprinkles move slowly which is what you want for tumblers.

Using baby oil allows the sprinkles to move more quickly which makes it perfect for these pens. You want to be able to see the snow globe effect as you’re writing and having the sprinkles move more easily is how you achieve that. Another way to ensure that your additions will move well is to leave enough room at the top for a bubble to form.

Don’t fill the pen completely with the baby oil and you’ll get a little bubble that will help move all the pretties around. We know it’s hard for resin artists to embrace a bubble but trust us, you want to see one here!
