- Flower preservation and botanical keepsakes
- Deep molds and embedded objects
- River tables, wood inlays, and furniture castings
- Layered resin artwork and large pour blocks
- Functional décor and sculptural castings
Need a faster recoat or a glossy surface finish after a deep pour? Use Artist Resin as a high-gloss topcoat. For production speed on surface layers, see Fast Set Epoxy.
CCDIY Pro Tips
Mix equal parts of Part A and Part B by volume. Stir slowly for 3–5 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of your cup to ensure a complete blend. Pour in layers up to 2 inches thick, allowing each layer to set before adding the next. Work at room temperature for best flow and clarity, and avoid mixing less than 2 oz total to maintain the proper chemical ratio.
Plan accurately with our Resin Calculator. Seal porous surfaces with Quick Coat to reduce trapped air before a deep pour. Explore pigments, tools, and accessories in Casting Resin Supplies to complete your setup.
Working Time and Cure
- Working Time: approximately 60–90 minutes at 75°F (24°C)
- Recoat Window Between Layers: about 8–10 hours
- Full Cure: approximately 72 hours at room temperature
- Recommended Maximum Pour Depth: up to 2 inches per layer
This slow-curing cast resin supports large volumes with reduced heat, excellent clarity, and minimal shrinkage for professional results.
How to Use Culture Cast Casting Resin
Step 1: Prep Your Workspace
Set up in a clean, level area at room temperature. If you’re working with flowers or wood, make sure they’re sealed to prevent trapped air. (Quick Coat works great for this.)
Step 2: Measure Your Resin 1:1 by Volume
Pour equal parts of Part A and Part B into your mixing cup. Accuracy matters as the Culture Cast is designed for predictable results when mixed correctly.
Step 3: Mix Slowly for 3–5 Minutes
Stir gently, scraping the sides and bottom as you go. Slow mixing keeps air from whipping into the resin and ensures a smooth, even cure.
Step 4: Pour in Layers Up to 2 Inches
Pour your first layer and let the resin naturally release bubbles. For thicker projects, work in multiple layers, allowing 8–10 hours between pours.
Step 5: Position Botanicals or Objects (If Using)
Take your time, your long working window gives you freedom to adjust petals, embed keepsakes, or perfect design details without pressure.
Step 6: Let the Resin Cure Fully
Culture Cast takes about:
-
60–90 minutes open time
-
8–10 hours for the next layer
-
72 hours for a full, hard cure
Allowing full cure ensures the highest clarity and strength.
Step 7: Finish, Sand, or Topcoat as Desired
Once the resin reaches full hardness, you can sand the edges, polish the surface, or add a glossy topcoat using Artist Resin if you want a flawless finish.
