How to Make a Fall Inspired Striped Glitter Tumbler
When it comes to fall colors, it can be so hard to pick just a few. Each one is as beautiful as the next so leaving any behind can be hard! One of the things that we love about this striped glitter tumbler is that we get to showcase 6 beautiful fall colors, all in one cup!
Down below (below the supply list for this tumbler) you will find the detailed steps that Megan takes to make her fall cup. But first, we've given you an outline so you can get an idea of the process and see how much fun making this fall tumbler can be!
So grab your favorite fall shades and let's get crafting!
Step 1: Glitter It Up with Fast Set Epoxy
First things first, gather your 6 favorite fall colors—think burnt orange, deep burgundy, and golden yellow. Grab shades of Pop of Color Paint and coordinating glitters. Mark, tape, and paint your tumbler. Our paints dry quickly so you'll be able to move onto glitter in no time!
Using Fast Set Epoxy, apply three colors of glitter at a time. Remember to work swiftly, as this epoxy sets fast! The vibrant hues will capture the essence of fall foliage. Once you've got that glitter magic in place, let the epoxy cure completely.
Step 2: Lock in the Sparkle
Now that your tumbler is all glitzed up, it's time to ensure that glitter stays put. Begin by spraying a clear sealant over the entire surface. Follow that with a layer of Quick Coat sealant from CCDIY.
This step is crucial as it locks the glitter in place, ensuring it won't budge even during those chilly fall outings. Allow it to dry completely—patience is key here!
Step 3: Add More Colors
Ready for round two? Tape off sections to protect your existing glitter, then repeat the glitter application process with your other three chosen colors.
This layering technique adds depth and variety, mimicking the beautiful spectrum of autumn leaves. Seal these new colors with clear sealant and Quick Coat, letting it dry thoroughly.
Step 4: Smooth It Out with Artist Resin
Once your glitter has been sealed, it's time to create that glassy finish. Apply a layer of Artist Resin from CCDIY over the entire tumbler. This will smooth out any rough patches and give your tumbler a sleek look that’s as smooth as a fall breeze.
Step 5: Add a Touch of Gold
What's fall without a little gold? Using chrome gold metal vinyl, cut into 0.20-inch sections, apply thin gold lines between your glitter stripes. This accent adds a touch of elegance and highlights the rich colors of your tumbler, reminiscent of golden autumn sunsets.
Step 6: Another Resin Layer
Seal your gold accents with another layer of Artist Resin. This step not only protects the vinyl but also enhances the tumbler’s overall sheen, making it irresistibly glossy.
Step 7: Personalize with Decals
Now for the fun part—add decals that reflect your love for the season! Whether it’s a playful pumpkin, a whimsical leaf, or your favorite fall quote, these decals will make your tumbler uniquely yours.
Step 8: Final Resin Finish
To ensure your tumbler is ready to brave the fall elements, apply a final layer of Artist Resin until every inch is smooth and shiny. This last coat will protect your artwork and give it that professional finish.

Step By Step Instructions
-
Start by lightly sanding your cup with sandpaper to scuff it up a bit. Then wash and dry it to remove any debris.
- Then use a ruler and pencil to mark off 6 even stripes around your tumbler. While doing this, decide which of your 6 colors you want where.
- Now tape of 3 alternating sections of the tumbler. Use a paint brush and apply your chosen Pop of Color Paint colors to those sections. Add a second coat if needed. Let dry.
- Then remove the tape and apply new tape to the sections you painted. Paint the remaining three sections and let them dry.
Time to Add the Glitter!
- Remove the tape from the tumbler and get your glitters ready. Tape off three alternating sections of the tumbler.
-
Next, mix up a batch of Fast Set according to the package instructions. Measure equal amounts of Parts A and B. Then pour part B into part A and mix well for 3-5 minutes. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of your cup as you go, as well as your mixing stick. This ensures that all of your epoxy will be well incorporated.
- Working quickly, one section at a time, use a gloved finger to apply the combined Fast Set to your exposed paint sections. Then sprinkle on the corresponding glitter color. Let the resin cure.
- Next add a coat of spray sealant and let it dry.
- Now add a layer of Quick Coat to seal your glitter in, let it dry.
- Then remove your tape, tape off the glittered portions, and repeat the same process to add the remaining 3 glitter colors.
- Seal with Quick Coat again. When it is almost dry, mix up a batch of Artist Resin and apply a layer to the whole tumbler. Allow it to cure.
- Next apply your gold strips where each color meets. Give it another layer of Artist Resin and let it cure again.
- Finally, add your decal and a last coat of the Artist Resin. Once it's cured, your tumbler is ready to use!
Tips for Best Results
- Work Quickly: Fast Set Epoxy has a limited working time, so be prepared and move efficiently. Using the Fast Set allows you to move on to the next steps much more quickly though! It cures up in only a few hours.
- Seal Thoroughly: Ensure each glitter layer is completely dry and sealed before moving to the next step. This will keep your colors from smearing into each other and give you nice clean lines.
- Don't Stress: Don't worry if your line edges aren't completely perfect! We will be adding the gold lines between each color. This helps all the colors on the tumbler pop. And it separates each color seamlessly.
- Personal Touch: Choose colors and decals that resonate with your personal fall aesthetic to make the tumbler truly yours. Megan's color pallet is absolutely gorgeous! You can do something similar or swap in some of your other fall favorites!
